Dear Kickapoo Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you about an incident that occurred during recess involving an upper elementary student. The student made an inappropriate comment related to school safety that, while concerning, does not appear to represent a serious or credible threat. However, we want to assure you that we are taking this situation very seriously.
While not all students heard the comment, some students at recess were exposed to the statement. As a precaution, we immediately followed our school safety protocols, thoroughly investigated the situation, and are addressing the student's behavior in a manner appropriate to the circumstances.
Please know that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We have taken all necessary measures to ensure the continued safety of everyone at school. This includes additional conversations with those directly involved and reinforcing our expectations around appropriate behavior.
We encourage you to have open conversations with your child about this situation and remind them of the importance of making good choices, both in their interactions and in the language they use. If you or your child have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and for your continued partnership in ensuring the safety and well-being of all students at Kickapoo.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Johnson

Band Students and Parents:
The Labor Day Parade is on Monday, Sept 2nd, in Readstown. Students should wear either their music polo or music t-shirt, with any color coordinated shorts and tennis shoes, NOT open toed shoes/sandals. The bus will be at school by 12:30pm to start loading. We will then plan to meet in Readstown, at the gazebo in Veterans Memorial Park, at 1:00pm; the parade steps off at 2:00. ALL drumline/percussion members need to meet in the band room at 12:00pm to run through the cadence before loading the bus with everyone else. Any questions can be directed to Mr. Smith. See you all soon!
MS FB practice tonight is cancelled.
